    “The Smithy is a wonderful property - professionally managed by a great team at Walwick Hall.”

    The reservations team at Walwick helped us out with a 10-day booking at very short-notice and it turned out to be one of the best stays we've had in the UK. The property setting is lovely - a converted stable block set in well maintained parkland grounds. It's a private site in a rural setting but it's close to a number of towns including Corbridge and Hexham. The layout and facilities at the Smithy are excellent plus the property is immaculately presented. There is also an option (by booking) ...

Humshaugh is an historic Northumberland village, 6 miles from the region’s main market town of Hexham - a bustling town with a fine Saxon crypt, shops and restaurants. A short drive will take you to pretty Corbridge, which dates back to Roman times and has pubs, specialist shops, and a 12th century bridge spanning the River Tyne. A day exploring the many delights of Hadrian’s Wall shouldn’t be missed and a little further afield will take you to the Heritage Coastline, as well as the castles of Alnwick, Warkworth, Dunstunburgh and Bamburgh. For those who prefer staying closer to home, Humshaugh has a great pub serving quality food and real ales, an award-winning shop and weekly visits from a fish and chip van!
