“This is a pretty cottage but it is NOT dog friendly .”

If the owners do not want dogs upstairs then don't have an open plan layout. We have stated I dozens of cottages and we have never felt so tense and unwelcome. Would be perfect for a dog free couple . We felt so worried that we drove home after a few hours wasting our money
