“The cottage itself is quaint and intriguing with its double aspect windows onto Alnmouth’s Main Street.”
However the kitchen is very dated, with no dishwasher and the bed too small and uncomfortable. General maintenance of the proper had not been kept up, with the sitting room ceiling having been replastered in one corner but not repainted . Much of the paintwork was chipped and the whole property needed a thorough cleaning . Other properties often provide generous welcome packs with basic foodstuff like bread and milk and then little luxuries like wine and chocolates. In Strandline even the salt and pepper containers were empty! The overall impression was of owners wishing to make as much money as possible while providing as little as possible for their guests. We would not stay here again.

Thank you for your feedback. Over the past year, the property has undergone extensive renovations. A new deck was added to the backyard earlier this year, the bathroom was fully refitted in July, and in November, the kitchen was completely renovated, now featuring a dishwasher and built-in modern electrical appliances. The cottage has also been repainted throughout, giving the interior a bright and refreshed appearance.
The bed in the bedroom is a high-quality double from John Lewis, paired with a luxurious John Lewis mattress to ensure a restful and comfortable night’s sleep. We are also considering upgrading to a king-size bed in 2025 to further enhance the comfort of our guests.
As a self-catering cottage, we are unable to provide certain perishables such as milk or bread, or alcohol, due to health, safety, and licensing regulations. However we always provide a welcome pack with cleaning essentials, tea, and coffee, along with a library of books and games to make our guests’ stay as comfortable and enriching as possible.
