The property

Set in the historic, market town of Alnwick, is White Feathers, a delightful, two-bedroom cottage.

Just a stone's throw away from the town's amenities and attractions, including the impressive Alnwick Castle, White Feathers offers a homely base for three guests with their furry companions in tow.

Formerly part of Alnwick Castle as a grain store or oat house, this terrace holiday home has a rich history in this bustling town.

Going back to the 1950s and 1960s, White Feathers even operated as a shop serving the local community.

Unload your belongings and head indoors to make yourself at home.

Be greeted by a lovely living/dining room where you can unwind after a day of adventure with the woodburning stove rustling in the backdrop.

The kitchen is well-equipped for a self-catered stay, where you can prepare delicious meals, ready to be enjoyed around the dining table.

Once the sun sets, catch some rest from either the king-size or single beds, awakening to a refreshing shower in the bathroom.

On your doorstep, be spoilt for choice when stocking up on the essentials or dining out, with The Market Tavern Steakhouse and Lodge, Alnwick Market open every Thursday and Saturday, and a plethora of cafes and pubs to select from. For attractions, don't miss visiting the amazing Alnwick Castle and Treehouse restaurant, finishing off with a stroll alongside River Aln or around The Alnwick Garden, ending your day with a tipple at The John Bull Inn pub.

Heading towards the coast, both Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum and Dunstanburgh Castle are perfect for history buffs, or head north to explore Bamburgh, its seafront castle, and the stunning beaches of the Northumberland Coast AONB.

With the Northumberland National Park within reach, there's plenty to see and do in the area, all starting from White Feathers.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
