“Fabulous week spent in Alnwick.”

Laburnum cottage was perfect in every way for our week in Northumberland. Lots to extra touches to make our stay relaxing and comfortable. Parking for 2 cars was no problem. Grandparents, children, grandchildren and a dog enjoyed every minute.

“A beautifully decorated home.”

Everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay . Lots of extra touches. Very good welcome basket. Comfortable beds quality bedding. Very clean and well looked after home. Nice sitting areas front and back when weather permits. Great selection of books and games too. A real home from home . Perfect location, minutes from the town centre . We had no issues with parking.

“We stayed from 17th to 24th May.”

We had an email telling us that the cottage was ready if we wished to arrive before check in time which was very useful. The cottage is outstanding, the facilities are very high end and there is everything you could ever need provided. There is a comprehensive welcome pack and instructions for all appliances. There's 3 bedrooms, one en suite, a family bathroom and a downstairs loo too, so perfect for families. There are 2 fridges and a freezer, oven, microwave and washer drier. Excellent kitchen utensils for self catering which sometimes in other places are lacking. The location is perfect, just a short walk to Alnwick centre. We never had a problem parking as there is plenty of free on street parking. The owners should be proud of their property as it is in excellent condition and we had a very comfortable and happy holiday here and would definitely return.

“Generally excellent .”

Well organised for dogs with a gate to prevent them going upstairs , dog bowls and treats . So often they say dog friendly but it’s not been thought out but here was excellently thought out and therefore definitely dog friendly

“A beautiful cottage with everything you need at your fingertips.”

Comfortable and clean with a quaint front garden and an ideal seating area at the back of the property. Less than a 5 min walk into Alnwick centre, the cottage is surprisingly quiet. We will certainly be back. We had dinner at the Treehouse and The Market Tavern and lunch at Grannies - would recommend all of them. Also a great location for visiting nearby tourist attractions, Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and The Jolly Fisherman in Craster.

“Beautiful property on a great location.”

So well appointed with so many facilities and additional unexpected extras- lovely welcome pack , kitchen basics , lovely diffusers dotted about and so much more. High quality furnishings , bedding , towels etc. perfect location for walking into Alnwick to explore or to drive and visit the beautiful coast. This is our second visit to this lovely cottage and it won’t be our last.

“We loved the comfort, cleanliness, how well equipped it was.”

The dogs loved their treats and the dog bed. We made use of the stair gate to prevent them from sneaking upstairs! The welcome basket was a lovely touch. Perhaps a small carton of milk in the fridge would be useful after a long drive. We also loved the selection of books and DVD’s plus the shower gels & moisturiser were divine! The location was perfect and the dogs loved their morning river walk…what a view!!

“Beautiful cottage.”

. real home from home.. comfortable and well equipped for every need.. We were 5 adults and 2 dogs and there was plenty of space for us all.. perfect location for using as a base to explore the area.. happy with our week away and if we come back up to the area I shall certainly try to book this cottage again.. thanks for everything..

The property

A beautiful stone-built cottage located in the market town of Alnwick, tucked away behind the High Street in a charming part of Northumberland.

Perfect for families, Laburnum Cottage is laced with an abundance of character and heart-warming features to make you feel right at home from the outset.

As you enter, you will be welcomed by a lounge, presented to an immaculate standard with exceptional flooring and a gas fire to elevate those cooler nights.

The kitchen continues the sense of charm, with overhead wooden beams and a contemporary design to compliment the feel of the cottage.

A utility area is on hand, and a well-appointed cloakroom completes the ground floor.

Follow the exposed stonework upstairs, where you will discover two king-size bedrooms, the first boasting an attractive en-suite and a twin bedroom just as promising for a good night's sleep.

There is a main bathroom with a freestanding bath and a separate shower with underfloor heating and Bluetooth speakers.

After taking some time to appreciate the cottages interior, access the little courtyard from the kitchen to be at one with the location; a nice spot to unwind away from it all.

Alnwick offers a selection of shops, pubs and places to eat with plenty to see and do, not forgetting miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands, all easily accessible.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby.
