The owners have provided everything you can possibly need and each room was decorated well with plenty of available plug sockets and information around the house. Parking was easy on the street and the owners had left local attraction information and menus also which was handy. Area was very quiet so ideal for families and couples. Highly recommend. The only reason it didn’t get a 5* review was the bedrooms could do with some blinds or blackout curtains in them as the streetlight shines directly into it. The house was clean, nicely decorated and well maintained with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Amble is a lovely seaside town/ fishing port. There are plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants catering for every taste, although I found the fish restaurants expensive. Plenty of walking routes and a good Base To visit attractions in the area, there is a good bus service nearby if you want to leave the car. All in all a very good stay and would recommend.

It’s a friendly town with all amenities and some great walks and fabulous beaches close by. Coquet Cottage is a cosy well equipped base in a very quiet street a couple of minutes walk from the main high street.

The huge wooden bed frame in the double room was much to big and we struggled to get between it and the fireplace to get into bed. A good location to visit all the lovely places in the area. We really enjoyed our short break

We found the main rooms we used in the cottage to be very dark, specially the living room and main bedrooms hardly any light coming through. The sofas not very comfortable to relax in after a full day walking. Kitchen was bright and very well stocked.

“Good cottage with everything you need.”

Could do with redecoration in places, but that doesn't really matter too much. Some sort of washing line outside would be useful. Says 2 parking spaces but in theory its first come first served parking on the street. One day had to park round the corner but not an issue for us. Kitchen and dining room floors could have been cleaned better. We went over them with floor wipes which came up brown. Overall a good base for exploring the area.

The owners came back very quickly with a positive answer we had about bicycle storage in their back yard. The quick answer was much appreciated although in the end we did not take them. The accommodation met our expectations and provided a very useful base for visiting places in the area. During these uncertain (Covid-19) times it was good to see that lots of cleaning products had been left in the house to help us keep the place clean. There was lots to see in the area and all the places we visited were taking sensible and necessary precautions.

We also had difficulty parking as it was a well used residential street. I have rheumatoid arthritis and as there was no downstairs toilet this was a problem, also shower over bath, as had difficulty getting in and out. However we loved the area and spent as little time as possible at the property. After the lovely accommodation we had at Chepstow last September we found this property very disappointing.

The description does say that the parking is roadside, though the availability of this hasn't been raised as a problem before. “Very comfortable house.”

The map showing where it is in the town was misleading but that didn't really matter because locals were so friendly and helpful. One minor point, though we don't see how it can be reasonably changed, was the difficulty we had using the shower. Our daughter had no difficulty, but my husband and myself could not turn the knob to turn the shower on. We are both over 80 and our wrists are not as strong as they used to be. Just something to look for when arranging the letting. Lovely friendly local people.

We were in the area to fish and the premises were ideal and in the right location for this purpose. Unfortunately the weather was against us for the first few days. This gave us the opportunity to visit many sites in what is a beautiful county. The only downside is that the property was booked for 4 adults although only 2 were able to go due to illness. We will no doubt visit Amble again next year and would certainly consider Coquet Cottage again.

Comfortable beds and one of the few cottages, that we have stayed at, with good mirrors and lighting for make-up/shaving. Excellent base for local attractions and good restaurants. Small back yard with plants in pots and bench, which gets the sun in the afternoon. No space for children to play in yard. People with mobility problems may find steepness of stairs and step arrangement from bedrooms to bathroom awkward, especially at night. The house is on a quiet street but there is no off-road parking and parking is at a premium, especially on Sundays! We enjoyed our stay and, judging by the comments in the visitor's book, so have many others!

“The cottage was in a superb location, very well equipped (above and beyond expectations) and comfortable.”

The only downside was the kitchen, which had no full size oven (there was a convection oven and microwave) and was very compact with hard to reach cupboards that were rather high. However, feedback from the owners in the visitor book suggests they plan to knock through into the existing second bathroom to extend the kitchen space and enhance its convenience/use of space. I feel this would be a great plan and if this work were completed we would rebook without hesitation. Overall we loved the Victorian charm of the property, the cleanliness and everything else about it! It is only a short walk from Amble harbour village and only a short drive away from all of Northumberland's scenic treasures.

Would highly recommend Alnwick Castle and Gardens, only 30 minutes drive away. Buy the combined 2 day ticket, great value. Kielder Water is also worth a visit, although a bit further away. Holy Island is a must, a beautiful, peaceful place.

Just a 5 minute walk from one of the area's most popular harbours and marinas, Coquet Cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore Northumberland's beautiful Heritage Coast, countryside and castles.

Discover the pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster, visit picturesque Warkworth just a mile away, or take in Alnwick Castle and its impressive garden, just a 15 minute enviable drive along unspoilt, scenic roads.

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
