“Lovely house and we had a great week.”

However, a few niggles: The clocks hadn't been changed There was a light out in the hall and on the first floor landing - we found bulbs but nothing to stand on to change them. Fire in the lounge - tried to use one afternoon when the room was chilly - no instructions and couldn't get it to work. Shower (top floor front) slide not working and shower could have been cleaner. This didn't really affect our week - as I said - niggles.

After parking on the roadside, make your way inside to be welcomed by a charming sitting room, where plenty of seating allows you to unwind in front of the TV; why not pop on a family-favourite DVD to enjoy, too?

When you're feeling peckish, continue to the impressive kitchen, where a range of brilliant appliances can be found, including a range cooker with double ovens, as well as ample food preparation space; a budding chef's dream!

Once a delectable dinner has been fixed up, take it through to the dining room and tuck into it whilst you discuss the day's adventures.

As the day winds to a close, throw any old clothes into the utility's washing machine, freshen up in the neighbouring cloakroom, and head upstairs to discover three of the five fabulous bedrooms.

The first of these bedrooms consist of a zip/link super-king-size, which enjoys Jack-and-Jill access to a superb bathroom, shared by the lovely twin room; completing this floor is a fabulous king-size that benefits from its own en-suite shower room.

Ascend the stairs to find two more fantastic bedrooms, another super-king-size - also zip/linked for flexibility - which enjoys an en-suite shower room, and a double boasting an en-suite bathroom; both rooms enjoy amazing views, from the rooftops of Bamburgh to the countryside and distant sea!

Venture outside to explore your picturesque setting, where a short stroll will lead you to the high street, where you will find an array of fantastic eateries, including The Castle Inn and The Lobster Pot, as well as a deli and butchers shop for grabbing fresh produce.

This beautiful village is home to the renowned Bamburgh Castle and you can tour the intriguing RNLI Grace Darling Museum; alternatively, venture down to Bamburgh's wonderful award winning beach, which is just half a mile away and offers excellent surfing conditions and a long stretch of sand.

Spend some time in Seahouses, a quaint village boasting a charming harbour with opportunities to embark on boat tours of the Farne Islands, as well as access to a marvellous golf club!

Explore more of the Northumberland Coast AONB by travelling to Dunstan Seeds, where the ruins of the once-glorious Dunstanburgh Castle, the delightful Embleton Bay and the nearby Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum can be found.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
