    “We had a great stay the Blacksmiths.”

    It is a lovely space with gorgeous garden and outdoor patio. It is also incredibly well stocked and we had everything we could need. All three generations staying there loved it and we all agreed we would come back. The only comment I would make it that there is a very strong damp smell (or possibly something else) in the main bedroom which overpowers the whole room and makes it quite unpleasant. The abundance of reed diffusers throughout the property also indicate that the property managers ...

The abundance of reed diffusers throughout the property also indicate that the property managers probably know there is a general smell issue. I did call the maintenance number after a couple of days to report the smell and they said someone would come and see to it but nobody came.

    Dear Guest Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay. I’m sorry about the misunderstanding with the maintenance team. I have spoken to them and they mentioned a problem reported with the WiFi that was resolved but appear to have missed this one. We checked at changeover and have confirmed with current guests that there is no smell now but will keep an eye on this. The diffusers are not there to combat any specific bad smells, just to generally freshen up the place. Property Owner

The property

The Blacksmith’s is a detached Grade II listed single storey cottage tucked away in the heart of Bamburgh, just a short walk to the castle, beach and amenities. It has an exceptionally good location in this much sought after village and benefits from private parking for 2 cars, a good sized garden, patio and spacious living area. Originally the Blacksmith’s workshop and forge dating back to 1840, a log burning stove has been incorporated into the impressive forge inglenook fireplace. ACCOMMODATION OVER ONE LEVEL (Ground) Living/dining room spacious open plan with high vaulted ceiling, tiled flooring, inglenook fireplace and log burning stove, TV/DVD, CD player and dining table and chairs. Kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/ freezer, washing machine and dryer. 1 step up to hallway. Bedroom 1 with king-size bed, en suite shower, WC and basin. Bedroom 2 with twin beds. Bedroom 3 with twin beds. Bathroom with contemporary roll top bath, hand shower attachment, WC, basin and heated towel rail. The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
