“The property was awful, dark and dirty with worn out furniture, the fridge was filthy and freezer unit as well.”

The photos on your website must have been taken a long time ago I would say, and I would be interested in the date when your last inspection took place. There was no wifi despite your site saying there was. The rear garden is indescribable really and is unusable, I doubt a gardener has worked on it recently. I left after an hour of arriving at the cottage, needless to say my holiday was ruined, and I had to arrange alternative accommodation at great expense. Sykes are misrepresenting the quality ...

Sykes are misrepresenting the quality of the property and having paid over £500 for the week I am definitely unhappy. Therefore I would expect your company to fully refund my money and also remove this property from the listings.

About the location

ALWINTON

Rothbury 10 miles.

A tiny, delightful, truly rural village with a lovely old church and a village pub, Alwinton sits in the Upper Coquet Valley, between the grassy Cheviots and the more rugged Harbottle Hills in the midst of the National Park. A great base for walkers and cyclers, the Pennine Way is a few miles, and the Pennine Cycle route a couple of miles south. This is a good location for exploring Northumberland with Hadrian's Wall and the magnificent Heritage Coastline within reach. Many of the area’s historic houses and castles are within easy driving distance – Wallington Hall, Cragside, Alnwick, Bamburgh, and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Fabulous local produce is available in Rothbury, from Craster kippers to hill-reared beef and lamb, Northumbrian cheeses and preserves. A fabulous base for enjoying all the area has to offer.

Note: Starter pack of fuel for woodburning stove provided between November and February
