Dolphins and seals are both regular visitors to the bay and can often be seen splashing whilst hunting for food or resting on the sheltered rocks in the cove.
From the front doorstep, there are plenty of rock pooling opportunities along the shore just yards away, and the area is renowned for its interesting geological formations ideal for fossil hunting.
Fresh crab and lobsters are still landed at the quaint harbour.
With its breath-taking uninterrupted sea views and idyllic location, Partan Cottage is a truly enchanting cottage by the sea.
The local area has some wonderful countryside and coast with miles of open sandy beaches and vertiginous cliff top walks.
There is plentiful open hill country with the Cheviot Hills to the south and Lammermuir Hills to the north offering great scope for walking and exploration.
Holy Island, St Abbs with its spectacular diving, the Farne Islands and the wonderful beaches and castles of North Northumberland are all within easy driving distance and the vibrant capital city of Edinburgh is only 40 minutes away by rail from Berwick.
