The property

This splendid, detached property sits within a walled garden in the quaint village of Cresswell, enjoying views of the sea from the first floor, and less than a mile from the unspoilt Cresswell Beach.

Asta Cottage is an ideal base for a family or group of eight seeking a Northumberland getaway along the coastline.

Discover the spacious kitchen/diner, where you can prepare the dining table for a big feast while the chef of the group gets acquainted with all the appliances, including an electric range cooker with 5-ring hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even a dishwasher, ensuring you have everything for a well-equipped stay.

Carry the conversation into the lounge, where a woodburner rests in a large fireplace, and an arrangement of seating offers a lovely place to rest in the evenings.

As you tire, there are four bedrooms at this Cresswell cottage; the ground floor offers a king-size with bathroom, perfect for those with limited mobility, whilst upstairs provides two king-size doubles, one of which is the master and includes a large en-suite bathroom, while there is also a refreshing twin and a bathroom to pick from.

Step out onto the large balcony and enjoy a moment in the sunshine, or head down to the large enclosed courtyard for a refreshing drink or some family games.

The property enjoys an excellent location, close to Cresswell Beach which is largely unspoilt and remains quiet most of the year, and its dog friendly too!

Wildlife lovers can visit Cresswell Pond, a shallow lagoon that sits just off the beautiful Druridge Bay coastline, providing a year-round haven for wading birds.

Take a drive north to the picturesque harbour village of Amble, with a lovely assortment of shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways, perfect for when you want a night off cooking.

Alternatively, venture south to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, a charming town for the idyllic beach and striking sunrises, along with a myriad of marine life that regularly graces Newbiggin Bay.

You are also well placed for discovering the delightful coastal villages of Warkworth and Alnmouth, together with Morpeth, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, which all provide great days out.

Box off the attractions of the Northumberland coastline during your stay at Asta Cottage.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £450.

About the location

CRESSWELL

Newbiggin-by-the-Sea 5 miles; Ashington 6 miles; Morpeth 9 miles; Whitley Bay 19 miles.

Cresswell is a Northumberland village on the North Sea coast, popular with bird watchers with Cresswell Pond being nearby and the Druridge Bay Country Park less than 3 miles away. Recently popular with archaeologists after a community dig (the Cresswell Pele Tower Project) led to the discovery of two bronze aged burial crists, neolithic flint and pre-historic and medieval pottery. The Pele Tower is currently being restored. The Drift Inn situated 500 yards to the west of Cresswell is an extremely popular cafe/diner open all year round. Cresswell is now part of the Coasts and Castles Cycle Route (NCN Route 1) which includes 85 miles of routes that follow or lie close to the magnificent Northumberland coastline. The village has an ice cream shop but this does close out of season. The nearby town of Ashington, once known as the largest mining village in the world and offers a good range of shops and has a market day on Tuesday. It also boasts two country parks, Wansbeck Riverside Country Park and the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park at Woodhorn. The lovely market town of Morpeth, just nine miles away, offers the remains of an historic castle, lovely parks, riverside walks, ancient architecture and churches and an old chantry with a bagpipe museum.

Note: There is a £20 per dog supplement per stay.
Note: People with mobility issues are advised to use the upstairs bathroom, as the ground floor bathroom does not have a walk-in shower.
Note: Property is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Note: Handrail is available in the master suite shower.
