Elsdon, the historic capital of Redesdale, described as the perfect Northumbrian village, lies in the heart of the Cheviots, on the edge of the Northumberland National Park.
Along with the ancient parish church, the pele tower (one of the best examples left in Northumberland) and even the remains of a motte and bailey castle, the houses which gather around the teardrop-shaped village green make Elsdon the largest settlement within the boundaries of the National Park.
It is a great starting or finishing point for many walkers or cyclists (route No68) into the surrounding countryside, the tearoom has become an essential pit-stop for many visitors.
