Steven “This property was uninhabitable.”
Furniture was tired, flooring broken, sofas and chairs torn. I could have coped with this... BUT the property was filthy! Toilet covered in pubic hair and urine under rim. Shower dirty and full of hair and bodily grime in shower trap. Kitchen bin covered in food debris. Microwave and oven filthy with burnt on food. Floors thick with dust, hair and grime. Cobwebs on ceilings and light fittings. We were unable to remain in the property. We had to find alternate accommodation at considerable cost ...

Cobwebs on ceilings and light fittings. We were unable to remain in the property. We had to find alternate accommodation at considerable cost. Owners refused to come and clean the property, then ceased all communication. We returned to the property mid week as I thought I'd left my phone charger behind, to find the owner sitting watching SKY TV in the lounge. He promised us that his partner would refund us. But we've had no communication. DO NOT BOOK!!

Graham “Lovely place to stay.”
Well prepared, warm and comfortable in a great location. Very dog friendly!
- Graham, December 2024 -
Stephen “Absolutely great cottage.”
Couple of little issues but would absolutely return. The cottage ( as most do) could do with a deep clean, not looking to be picky but behind furniture pretty dusty ( only trying to use a plug behind furniture and dropped something behind couch). The steps on the decking were very slippery and really need something on them to stop this. Also worth a mention is that the side garden is only accessed via a gate but we just left it open so our dogs could go in there. Amble is amazing great beaches, restaurants and the fish stalls. Loved the holidays as did the dogs . Can’t wait to come back again

Alison “Really enjoyed our stay.”
The owners were very helpful and the house is in a great position with everything we could wish for. We liked it so much that we have already booked for next year! Thank you.
- Alison, October 2024 -
Graeme “Fantastic location in a lovely town.”
Really surpassed our expectations, we will definitely book again.
- Graeme, August 2024 -
Marilyn “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”
The only comment I would say is that it is listed as parking for 2 cars which gives the impression it is parking dedicated to the property. But it is on road parking, therefore occasionally we could not park outside the property. We were fortunate each time to park in the lay-by close by.
- Marilyn, August 2024 -
Adam “Comfortable, very well kitted out and great location.”
Some water damage to the ceiling in the second bedroom - when it rained heavily one night this dripped. Hosts were away and unable to fix immediately so offered 10% discount.
- Adam, July 2024 -
Suzanne “We love this house, it's the fourth time we've stayed here.”
Great position, great facilities, very clean and tidy and full sky package on TV for the sports fans in our family.
- Suzanne, June 2024 -
Susan “Well pleased with cottage, have stayed in lots of cottages this is the first one where owners have gone above and beyond with the extras.”
It does make a difference. Lexi the lab was well pleased. Would certainly stay again.
- Susan, June 2024 -
Rachel “Great location and very comfortable cottage which had everything we needed.”
Would recommend and return. Back yard was a bit bleak but wouldn’t put me off returning.
- Rachel, June 2024 -
Val “Good comfortable accommodation.”
All the gadgets in the kitchen that you need. Our bed was very comfortable. Good position on the edge of the town. The owners were very nice. Hopefully we will get back next year.☺
- Val, May 2024 -
Kevin “Lovely place!”

Karen “Had a great stay.”
Lovely cottage, very well equipped . The owners have made the house lovely .Location is perfect for walking the dogs ,one minute walk and your by the beach and only 10 minute stroll to the town centre . Will definitely be coming back ,

Bryn “Lovely cottage.”
Our third time in Amble and this is the best, most comfortable and best laid out property of the three places we have stayed in. Warm accommodation - in fact got too warm with log fire lit - very large grate, therefore recommend limit the size of the fire made in the grate. Well equipped, including several dog food & water bowls - couldn't fault it. Very close to the beach and harbour - ideal situation.
- Bryn, December 2023 -
Julie “The house was nice with comfortable seating and beds.”
The thing that let down our comfort was the lack of heating. The weather was cold and wet and the heating, especially upstairs was not good. There was a log burner and we used it every day which meant spending over £30 on logs. The windows let draughts through as well. Front door stiff to open. Recliner chair needs a good clean. The house was well equipped and a nice welcome pack was provided. No contact from owners prior to our stay which was unusual.
- Julie, December 2023 -
Rita “We stayed last week November.”
Warm, welcoming and homely. Perfect for us travelling with two hounds. Enough floor space for two dog beds! Welcome pack for dog was lovely, with dog dishes too! Outside space perfect for us, safe enclosed courtyard Well equipped kitchen, and welcome pack. Two minutes walk to coastal path and the great beaches. We enjoyed long beach walks, even if the weather was a tad nippy. Close to shops and pubs, but near coast too, perfect. Would certainly return to this cottage.
- Rita, November 2023 -
Terry “The cottage was delightful, warm , comfortable and the owners had worked hard to make their guests welcome.”
The kitchen was well equipped. Always plenty of hot water and by controlling the thermostat we could keep the temperature as we wished. The cottage is close to the town centre and to the beach. We would recommend Jaspers for a special meal.
- Terry, October 2023 -
Carol “This is a lovely cottage with beautiful views of Coquet Island.”
We only had a short break, but thoroughly enjoyed being so close to the beach in Amble in a comfortable cottage that was perfect for the stay.
- Carol, October 2023 -
Peter “Some parts looking a bit worn and in need of attention.”
Some things missing - no pegs, no tea towels. Inside of microwave very dirty and smelly and many surfaces dusty. Carpets not properly vacuumed and floor downstairs sticky. Position of the cottage ideal, but having to clean bits of it and search for basics like tea towels a bit annoying after a long drive.
- Peter, September 2023 -
Helen “Really well equipped house in a great location.”
Very spacious and had everything we needed. Owner very helpful with a couple of small issues, which were resolved immediately. House is needing a bit of tlc in places but otherwise great and we’d stay again.
- Helen, August 2023 -
Bruce “We have stayed there before and will stay there again.”
We love it . It a is very comfortable property with easy access to the beach and to the village. We highly recommend it.
- Bruce, July 2023 -
John “Rain leaked through the back bedroom ceiling over the TV area.”
I reported it but got no response. Some of my clothes were affected but it was not a problem. We placed a container under the leaky place during rain periods.
- John, June 2023 -
Robert “We loved hour stay at the light house.”
We would recommend to bring the property up-to-date it's looking a little tired On saying that the location is perfect and we would love to rent out again.
- Robert, June 2023 -
Michael “Well equipped cottage.”
Clean and comfortable. Would happily book again. My wife and I have enjoyed the North East coast having stayed at various locations over the years, this location did not disappoint.

We would be happy to stay here again.

Susan “Everything in the cottage was lovely, plenty of kitchen utensils, it was clean, the shower was good and the beds very comfortable too.”
Great location especially for Bailey our cockapoo! We were very happy and hope to come again.
- Susan, March 2023 -
Robert “Excellent property in perfect location with everything you need”
- Robert, January 2023 -
Alyson “Had a lovely week.”
The cottage was homely and warm. The kitchen had everything you’d need including a slow cooker and air fryer! The bed was so comfortable ( loved the fleecy bedding). Amble itself was gorgeous. It was nice to see a fishing port and local shops doing well. And the locals were friendly, almost everyone we came across said good morning or hello.
- Alyson, December 2022 -
Don “This was our 4th stay at Lightkeeper House, but the first post-covid.”
Ideally situated and excellent for taking our 2 small dogs out for a stroll. Amble is a great location to fan out from to visit the area's other places of interest. Every chance we will book again in the future.
- Don, December 2022 -
Julie “Our second visit to the cottage and we could clearly see the improvements that the owner has made in the last four years.”
For us, having two large dogs, the cottage is perfect for beach access. The cottage is spacious but cosy with everything we needed for the week. Amble itself is a delightful little area and the local independent shops are amazing (especially the butchers and bakery). The harbourside village is quaint and perfect for those unique gifts. The welcome pack was well received by us and the dogs. We will definitely be back!
- Julie, November 2022 -
Scott “Was sad to see the bath had been removed from the property but still listed in the amenities And had to leave a day early as there was a leek in the roof coming in to the bedroom.”
- Scott, November 2022 -
Eleanor “Love staying in this clean comfortable house.”
It's always perfect and we appreciate the milk etc that are there on arrival plus the treats for the dog! Sea views from every window. Fantastic comfortable bed, lovely walk in shower plus the sky package is great as we love watching sport. It's a home form home and we look forward to staying there again. Thank you.
- Eleanor, September 2022 -
Marjorie “Could have been cleaner.”
Dust in the bathroom and the floor downstairs felt it had not been cleaned properly. We had a problem with the lights upstairs (luckily we arrived when it was daylight). This was fixed however only lasted 3 days and the landing one went again and this was not fixed for the rest of our stay. The cooking pans were past there best. The 2 single beds were not very comfy could feel the mattress springs and the sheets felt gritty. We were informed about a damp patch on the ceiling of the back bedroom when they came to fix the electrics and were told it was a missing slate on the roof and hopefully we shouldn't get any rain! There was no hanging space in the back bedroom and the door would not close to give us some privacy. The location is perfect and Amble is a lovely place.
- Marjorie, September 2022 -
Alan “We had one of the best holidays.”
The house was quirky which we love. It also had everything in it we needed. The area around is easy access to many places of interest. Amble itself is a very friendly town. A great place for exploring along the coast with the dogs. A lot of unique shops in the high street, also a good number of eateries we had everything we needed within walking distance. We plan on going again, loved it.
- Alan, June 2022 -
Yvonne “Could have been cleaner.”
bathroom needed cleaning. we had to clean toilet, oven and cooker before use.lovely location pity we had to waste time cleaning house
- Yvonne, May 2022 -
Eleanor “We feel very at home in this lovely house.”
It's very comfortable and we appreciate the sea views, updated bathroom, luxurious towels and generous welcome package. Being out all day enjoying the glorious beaches and interesting places to visit it's an added bonus to have Sky sports! We're booked in again this September. Thanks so much for sharing this lovely house.
- Eleanor, May 2022 -
Frank “Lovely holiday home, with excellent location for wondering around Amble and sampling the many delights on offer.”
Pity about beach being off limits to dogs during high season 1May>> apart from that very dog friendly area for responsible owners, with many places to sample local fair. House itself clean and comfortable. Added extras like Nespresso Machine great touch, wish I had known in advance. Only issues , not complaints , were staircase a bit steep ( but probably typical for house type ) ,main bed was small double not king size and Central Heating controls a bit mixed up with heating coming on unnecessarily in the middle of the night. Northumberland is a great area and Light Keeper House is a vg base for a holiday. Property owners are doing a good job to make an older property feel more modern with some lovely finishing touches. Would rebook Light Keeper House for another holiday in the future. Thank you for a comfortable base for our holiday.
- Frank, April 2022 -
Lesley “Lovely cottage, with lots of touches to make it welcome.”
My second visit and I will happily book again.
- Lesley, April 2022 -
Carol “We have enjoyed our stay in Amble and had some lovely walks but unfortunately we didn’t have a pleasant experience in the cottage, this is approximately our 3 time using one of Sykes cottages and have had no complaints at all but I feel I need to make you aware that Light keeper house wasn’t at all clean, everything from the decor and the kitchen appliances is very dated and very used to the point they look grubby, the toaster is old and looks dirty and I couldn’t bring myself to use it, I had to clean the oven before I put anything in it and the underside of the bin lid was a disgrace.”
The pans were very old and ready for replacing. Outside was even worse the windows are filthy and all around the bottom of the doors need a good clean, the yard at the back hadn’t been swept and needs a good bleaching was very green and probably slippery when wet. The grass in the garden was about a foot long with a pile of rubbish in the corner and the bench was broken old and unusable. My dog was getting bitten by something and couldn’t settle at all! We left the property on Wednesday as we felt so uncomfortable but I can tell you it was a lot cleaner when we left than when we arrived.
- Carol, March 2022 -
Margaret “Unfortantly this property was very disappointing it was by no means covid ...”
Unfortantly this property was very disappointing it was by no means covid cleaned it needs updating and decorating especially upstairs There was a lot of things that were wrong this property regarding cleanliness I must say it was a lovely location and amble is lovely I would love to go back After putting in a complaint sykes as assured me the owner has put right all the problems we put to them
- Margaret, December 2021 -
Deborah “Our first time in Northumberland and we loved it.”
The cottage had every home comfort we could have needed and the spec was great. Perfect location for harbour and beaches. Great communication with the owner Dawn! Will definitely return. Highly recommended
- Deborah, October 2021 -
Derek “Having trawled through many holiday properties to find what we required we could only go on the written details provided and the reviews.”
These were spot on and we were very pleased. The accommodation and facilities were as excellent. As fare as the geographical position again just what we wanted. Beaches, shops and restaurants' coupled with many activities all in easy reach.
- Derek, August 2021 -
Lesley “Amble is delightful and the cottage is the perfect location.”
We felt genuinely welcome through the small touches on arrival, and have already discussed coming back again.
- Lesley, July 2021 -
Ann “This should have been our 2020 holiday but obviously the country was all put on hold, Sykes changed it without any fuss or extra charge.”
Great service. The house is in the most wonderful position with the outlook over the sea, there was nothing missing in the house you could possibly need for your holiday. Amble and surrounding area is stunning we walked for miles with our 2 little dogs and all pubs and cafés were very dog friendly. We are already planning to return next year.
- Ann, June 2021 -
John “Had a wonderful holiday.”
Love Amble and loved the cottage.
- John, May 2021 -
Douglas “The house was pleasant and the place was lovely however the on road parking is a problem as the local residents around the house seem to think that they actually own the road telling us that we should only bring one car.”
when returning to the house one day I parked in a spot which was vacant which happened to be outside one of their houses and got a load of abuse even though their cars regularly parked outside the house we were staying in there is room at this house to possibly make off road parking by using the garden at the side this should be considered as we will not return or recommend because I do not like being told what I can and cannot do on a public highway by ignorant residents
- Douglas, May 2021 -
Robert “Homely cottage is a great location in the lovely town of Amble”
- Robert, April 2021 -
Eleanor “This is a very comfortable house with a lovely new bathroom.”
Great location makes it a pleasure to do the washing up with a view of the sea. We had fantastic weather, wall to wall sunshine. After months of lockdown this holiday was treasured more than most!
- Eleanor, April 2021 -
Neil “The back yard is not as good as pictures show.”
Steps down to yard are very steep. Front door is hard to open or shut due to it sticking. Quite a few bits of redecorating needed.
- Neil, September 2020 -
Menna “A lovely home from home is a perfect position to explore the beautiful Northumberland coastline.”
- Menna, July 2020 -
K “Love this cottage.”
It was comfy, clean, has everything you need & very dog friendly. It even has full Sky with sport. Fantastic location with view of the sea. Bonus having the side garden for the dogs with bench for morning coffee! Great grassy area down to a small beach. (larger ones within easy walking distance). The beaches are wonderful & Amble is really friendly. We had an issue with the boiler & the owners did everything to get it fixed - thank you. Wouldn't hesitate to go back - must rate as one of the best we've stayed in. Mick & Kay (dogs Ellie & Zara) - Sheffield
- K, July 2020 -
Michelle “My expectations were not met great location but a few things need sorting the kingsize bed very small only one small wardrobe and lounge furniture low and not very comfortable, needed a few more kitchen things i.”
E Large baking tray, large casserole/lasagne dish I think that maybe there should be a list or requirements by you and these should be on them, everything very low to get to in the kitchen, the steps to the garden need looking at very steep and no outside light at night not a great combination if these thing were put right this would be am excellent cottage.
- Michelle, January 2020 -
Karen “The cottage is well maintained - the home from home comforts are lovely and the ...”
The cottage is well maintained - the home from home comforts are lovely and the additional touches with milk/tea/coffee/biscuits and dog treats for our pouches being left for us is exceptional - a great place to stay with beautiful walks and plenty of amenities at hand
- Karen, November 2019 -
Trudi “When looking to book a holiday we normally like to book somewhere outside the hustle and bustle of a town.”
But thought we would try this location as it was on the edge of one of our favourite towns . It was perfect. For an end terrace property With a sea view, a park just outside the front door is perfect for families.. It was very quiet, has a secure garden for the dog, and a yard ... perfect for washing the dog down after walks on the endless dog friendly beach’s . absolutely everything we needed for our stay. Very clean, very warm, more than a home from home.
- Trudi, October 2019 -
Stephanie “This cottage just about met expectations , a little tired perhaps!”
Rain shower not working and gutter blocked and overflowing above front door so a lake formed at the front.
- Stephanie, October 2019 -
Nick “We had a great stay in lightkeeper house, we arrived early after travelling up from Somerset, the owner was great and invited us in and showed us around even though the cottage wasn’t ready, after a short stroll around Amble she contacted us as soon as the property was ready.”
Great space in the cottage for us and the two dogs, Overall a great base to stay, well equipped and minutes from the beach and the town centre, we loved it and will be back.
- Nick, July 2019 -
Pamela “So many wonderful places to visit in this area.”
Castles and National Trust places, Lindisfarne and Farne Islands, Hadrians Wall Fantastic coastline. Just beautiful. The house was a home from home. Very comfortable and more spacious than we had assumed from the photographs. Excellent situation to explore the larger area
- Pamela, July 2019 -
Janet “The light keeper house was absolutely Shocking very dirty and mould on windows and shower didn’t work awful smell found out what it was the dishwasher smelled like a toilet everything was worn out full house could have done with a good clean and decorate though out both doors front and back was hard to open due to sticking very disappointed with the full experience not much help either with trying to get my money back I’ve used Sykes for a few years and been happy but this will be the last time I use Sykes the owner of lightkeeper house needs to be taken off Sykes list .”
Anyone thinking of going in lightkeeper house think again and look for some where else
- Janet, June 2019Thank you for taking the time to complete our feedback, as you are aware we are working with the owner of Lightkeeper House to find a suitable resolve to the situation and to ensure that the matters at the property are resolved to ensure that no other guests may suffer. ..good property...would Recommend.
- Karen J, June 2019 -
John “What a great place to use as a base, great views and a short walk to the beach, with a lovely green space in front of us.”
Yes there was a couple of niggly things in the cottage like the sticking front door and some of the cleaning wasn't quite up to some of the usual Sykes cottages we've been in, but it would not put us of going there again to go again because it was such a super place to be in. Overall the cottage was a lovely place to stay, with plenty of space and plenty of things to do in & around Amble, which is a lovely place to stay.
- John, June 2019 -
Mark “Had a great break and have booked to stay again later this year.”
- Mark, May 2019 -
Gill “The position is fantastic.”
House has everything you need. Easy parking Good area to stay for visiting Northumberland, Amble is a lovely town.
- Gill, April 2019 -
Leonard “Property needs some TLC.”
Sticking doors , leaking and difficult to adjust shower, chipped crockery, high and low dusting badly required. A lovely welcome pack for dogs and humans, thanks.
- Leonard, March 2019 -
Mark “The cottage was well placed to explore the area and there were plenty of easily accessible shops, restaurants.”
There were a few issues with the cottage however: the front door sticks & needs a hefty shove to open/close which doesn't create a good first impression; the standard of cleanliness was not brilliant; there was an issue with the shower controls being difficult to use & evidence of water damage on the kitchen ceiling which was clearly an ongoing problem.
- Mark, February 2019 -

Claire “We had a lovely time at the lightkeepers house in Amble.”
The house was like a home from home for us. The welcome pack for us was a nice touch as was the dog treats for our lab Woody. The house is situated really well, not far from local shops, restaurants and pubs. The beach is literally across the grassed area outside the front door. The house itself was warm and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for your stay. We would highly recommend this property to friends and family. We hope to be back in the future Thankyou
- Claire, February 2019 -
Julie “What a fantastic cottage!”
Location is perfect, just across from the beach. Spacious rooms, cosy log burner and every appliance/utensil you could possibly need. Welcome pack was a lovely gesture.
- Julie, December 2018 -
Suzanne “The cottage was lovely and larger than we expected.”
It was very well equipped with plenty of pans and baking trays etc., as we like to cook for ourselves. An added bonus for us was that there was somewhere to store our bikes (we were cycling on the coast and castles cycle route). There was plenty of space for our dogs and the position of the cottage was excellent for dog walks on the green and on nearby beaches. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a full sky package on the TV, which gave us a choice of films to watch in the evenings and enabled my husband to watch formula 1 on Sunday. We were so impressed with the cottage and the lovely town of Amble that we have re-booked the cottage for next year.
- Suzanne, November 2018 -
Johanna “We had a lovely welcome from Dawn and a nice welcome pack.”

Ian “Perfect location, cosy cottage with lovely log burner.”
Dog friendly back yard and side garden with access to some fantastic local walks. Only negative really was only having one oven baking dish and we purchased two baking sheets to cook pizzas on - no problem really as holidays aren't for cooking

Eileen “We were told bathroom was being refurbished.”
In truth it was in inadequately heated and ventilated. Grouting on tiles was dirty,. Overall felt DIRTY. Initially booked because of location and wood burner. Glass broke on wood burner, we informed owner, situation wasn't resolved so we returned home early. Turned out to be a very expensive and disappointing experience. What a shame!!!!
- Eileen, December 2017 -

Anne “This is a wonderful, clean, spacious and comfortable cottage!”
Very modern decor inside and everything provided for a relaxing week. We enjoyed staying in Amble (3rd time for us) and the weather was surprisingly good for the time of year too! Thanks to the owners for all the extra little touches like dog treats & towels, coffee, tea, milk & biscuits! We highly recommend staying here and would not hesitate to book it again when we visit the area. Fantastic!
- Anne, October 2016 -
Debs “Absolutely loved our week away!”
The house was clean and very welcoming but also cosy. We had wonderful views looking to Coquet Island and the sun rises were spectacular. The house was really well situated for dog walking, castle visiting and just popping into town and the locals were so very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.
- Debs, September 2016 -
Denise “They made you feel welcome”

Location perfect for nearby & further afield dog walks. Lovely welcome pack provided. Only improvement suggestion would be for external lighting in the patio area.
- Christopher, September 2016 -
Joanne “The location of the house was perfect and made the stay brilliant.”
The owner's extra little touches made it a home from home, they really have thought of everything - like providing dog bowls & a dog towel, welcome biscuits for us & treats for the dogs! The beach is 2 mins away & there is a sea view. We simply loved our holiday. Have already rebooked!
- Joanne, August 2016 -
Lindsay “We had a lovely week at Lightkeeper House.”
It has fabulous sea views from every window. The bed was very comfortable. The house was warm and cosy with everything you need for your stay.
- Lindsay, July 2016 -
Christina “Everything was perfect at Lightkeeper House.”
We can't decide who enjoyed it most, ourselves or our 2 King Charles Cavaliers! There were lots of castles and endless beaches on the coast and also plentiful walks on the beach a one minute walk from the cottage. Amble is a lovely small town with everything you need. Can't speak too highly of both the cottage and this beautiful part of England.
- Christina, March 2016 -
Sheri “Lightkeeper House is a fabulous cottage.”
It was lovely to see the sea from all the windows. The open plan living area with the wood burner was lovely. Can highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
- Sheri, January 2016 -
Scott “We loved Lightkeeper House and will definitely book again.”
The property had everything and more than you could want. We needed somewhere to relax and this did the trick. The owners met us as we pulled up and were lovely and friendly. They should be really proud of this property.

Eleanor “The warmest most comfortable cottage we have stayed in.”
Can see the sea from nearly every window. Straight out of the house to great walks by the sea.

Debra “The cottage is excellent, worth a 4star rating rather than the three star rating.”
We enjoyed relaxing in the cottage, it is very warm and cosy, plenty of hot water for a long soak in the bath. The main double bed was extremely comfy and we slept very well. It is very quiet in the cottage and has parking outside. The Tv is superb, with sky tv, and sky good speed WiFi, to enable you to plan day visits using the internet each night. The property is comfy, a high standard of renovation to a lovely holiday cottage. Lucca our weimaraner loved the cottage, and its closeness to the harbour bar area for walks. Well situated after long days walking on the beaches at alnmouth, druridge, low newton, bamburgh, and days out at craster, seahouses, warkworth and alnwick. We cooked a hot meal each evening, 4 frying pans, 1 milk pan 2 very large stock pans and utensils were in the kitchen. Only criticism is the kitchen could have done with 1-2 medium size pans, and a medium or large casserole dish. We had to buy disposable foil casserole dishes from queens street hardware store. A bread bin may be good too. We still managed to make lovely evening meals each night. We only had one really wet day, when we rested in the afternoon at the cottage, after a morning exploring Amble in the rain and drizzle. We purchased a children's draughts set which we left with the cottages jigsaws on the bookcase. We love Amble which is really friendly and welcoming, queen street barkery does lovely gluten free cakes. We love the village cafe in Alnmouth staffed by people from Amble, who are very dog friendly and they do fab coffee and gluten free cakes, for each afternoon with a loyalty card buy 5 drinks get 6th free. Alnwick is close by for Sainsburys, Aldi and Lidl to buy in our main shopping for weekly food for breakfast and evening meals. Lucca, our weimaraner is made welcome in Northumberland, especially in Amble which is really dog friendly. He loves walks on the beaches daily. We are both disabled walking with one and myself 2 arm crutches. so find druridge, alnmouth, bamburgh, and low newton beaches very accessible. This is our third Sykes cottage holiday in Northumberland we love staying in Amble as our base. Of course we will be back at Amble, with Sykes, we were sad we hadn't booked a two week break. Unfortunately Lightkeeper House is so popular it often doesn't have a 2 week slot available, so 1 week had to be booked instead of 2 weeks. This is the best and most homely and comfy Sykes cottage we have stayed in so far, we will be 're booking soon for next year. The visitors book is full of wonderful comments by people who loved the cottage and want to return again.

Philip “A great location close to local beaches which are of a very high standard, and everywhere is dog friendly.”
A very nice cottage within walking distance of food pubs, shops, cafes and Amble harbour. The beaches are all dog friendly and some of the best we have seen in the UK. Local people are all extremely friendly and welcoming.

Julie “A lovely homely cottage in an excellent location in Amble.”
Amble is a lovely fishing town which is on the up with some lovely redevelopment going on. The cottage is near the beach, harbour, shops and some nice places to eat. We don't have one but dogs seemed to be welcomed everywhere.

Sonia “This cottage was an absolute delight to stay in.”
It was absolutely gorgeous inside, very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything you would need, including a fantastic welcome basket. Comfortable front room with sky package (which husband absolutely loved), games and DVDs galore! The king sized bed was even more comfortable than my own and as for the bathroom, well, beautiful. The rain shower was wonderful in the morning. Parking outside the house is easy and a lovely 1 minute walk to the beach. Can't wait to go again.

Jennifer “Enjoyed everything about this holiday but in particular, the beaches which just go on and on.”
There are also plenty of towns/villages to visit with lots of good shops. There are also loads of good places to eat in/takeaway. Lightkeeper House is in an ideal position and even has a perfect view of Coquet Island. It is warm and comfortable and is one of the best houses we've ever stayed in! We will definitely be having a second visit.

Debi “Lovely location close to play park and open spaces for dog walking and also lots of lovely places to visit close by.”
Also liked that it was very close to a co-op and the town of Amble. The cottage itself was generally beautiful, and the owner had thought of everything, in terms of equipment for example full sky tv and broadband was fantastic, and the full range of pans and other kitchen equipment provided was also excellent. We loved the leaflets and information left for us, it was a lovely start to the holiday.

Mark “We liked the location and it's proximity to beach.”
A good base for a family holiday plenty for all to do with a great working harbour with puffin cruises, good fishing, ample shops and amusement and play facilities for the children. We found also a good central location to surrounding places like Alnmouth, Warkworth, Alnwick and Seahouses. It's a fabulous place and Lighthouse Keepers Cottage exceeded our expectations as did Northumberland.

Sally “Nice comfortable cottage in a good location close to the beach”

Claire “We booked at the last minute and the staff at Sykes were so helpful and friendly that we could not have asked for more.”
The house was terrific and we were met by the owner who gave us some great advice on what to do and where to go. There were some lovely touches at the house as well when we got there. Teabags, wine, flowers and a host of other stuff were all there waiting for us. A home away from home.
