“I had to call maintenance on arrival as there was no travel cot, nor was the sofa bed made up.”

There was no linen or a duvet for the sofa bed. The travel cot and linen was dropped off. Disappointing that I paid extra for the sofa bed, it wasn’t ready and then I had to make the bed. I had phoned the number during the week to confirm request for travel cot and high chair was received. I was told it was. When I phoned on the 12th the gentleman said Sykes did not always pass requests on. Again I said I’d phoned during the week and was told it was noted. The fault does not lie with Sykes ...

The fault does not lie with Sykes. I also had ask where the cutlery was as I couldn’t find it, despite the maintenance team member telling of the hidden drawer, I couldn’t find it- it was the wrong side he told me of. He quickly phoned back after speaking with housekeeping to tell me where it was. I am not familiar with such a feature in a kitchen , nor stove fires, so I had no idea whether the ashes were meant to go outside in a bin.. I could not see a bin for ashes so left the ashes in the pan. I do think there would be value in an information folder being accessible. On Thursday 17th morning we had no hot water, 5 adults and 2 children to get ready for the day meant we were unable to go ahead with our plans. The maintenance team quickly came, but couldn’t fix the problem so an external contractor had to repair the system. It was 4pm before the contractor left and the system was fully functioning again. Not that we were told but as the contractor had left we assumed it was fixed. Overall, we very much liked the cottage, it was immaculately clean, probably one of the cleanest I have rented. The decor was lovely, a casserole dish was a miss as was plastic tumblers for outside. A few more bath towels would have also helped. I appreciate there is a washing machine and tumble drier but as I am on holiday it is nice not to be too regimented to allow for days out etc and not have to worry about timings for the washing, The maintenance team were lovely, those that I spoke with and called at the house, they were very prompt in dealing with everything.
