Bill “Everything was great, my only problem was getting out of the bath.”
The owners were great and sorted the T.V. very quickly. We could not fault anything.

Indra “The house is lovely and well equipped and the bottle of wine and lovely cake were a nice touch.”
The only thing I would say is that the mattress bed in the main bedroom is quite hard and not that comfortable, If owners elect to provide cleaning equipment as they’d like the property left in a clean condition then perhaps a dustpan and brush would be nice as well as the broom and vacuum cleaner. Also there were no cleaning cloths to use apart from in the kitchen. Extra loo rolls for those staying longer than a couple of nights would also be good. None of this really detracted from the property as a whole and we had a lovely holiday exploring the area, with lovely places to eat out close by. The cherry on the cake for us was the stunning display of the Northern lights on Thursday.

John “A very comfortable and well equipped property.”
We enjoyed the welcoming gifts of fresh flowers, lemon drizzle cake, milk and a bottle of wine.

Val “Absolutely beautiful location, and really well appointed cottage.”
Everything you need and a complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch. For me, however, I found the bed far too firm. Almost hard. I guess this may suit some people but I think an optional memory foam topper would easily solve this. I used one of their cuddly fleece blankets on top of the bottom sheet which helped, marginally, but it really needs a topper (or a new mattress). I also found the chairs/sofa in the lounge not very comfortable. It's OK for a few minutes but an evening of tv had me constantly shifting in my seat. I did wonder if it was just me, but my friend who was with me also struggled to get comfortable. I really don't want to put anyone off going as it really is a lovely place (and the photo doesn't really do it justice!) but if those items could be addressed it would make it so much better. Just one other minor thing, the wardrobe doors make a lot of noise when opening and closing, which might disturb anyone still in bed if their partner was an early riser.

Nancy “We both enjoyed our stay in this lovely property Steven & Gill the owners made us feel most welcome We loved the area this property was in walk down to see the horse talk to the dogs at the back door and the small village was handy for our shopping needs We ventured out daily to local towns had a visit to the zoo which we enjoyed immensely and would recommend a visit Because I have mobility issues I found the stairs a bit steep but that was my only problem and that is no reflection on the property.”
We hope we will be able to return, thanks for a most enjoyable stay. Regards Nancy & Billy Dunfermline, Scotland

Jennifer “We were all impressed with The Granary.”
There was everything we could possibly need and a lot more besides. Plenty of information about the area to plan day trips. Very comfortable beds and ensuites. A lovely time of the year to visit in May. Sightings of brown hares from the kitchen windows.

Julie “A fantastic property very well situated for exploring Northumberland.”
It was very clean and looked after and felt very warm and homely. The owner had provided everything you could need. The only criticism was that the pillows were quite flat and hard which I know some people prefer but it would be nice to have at least some that are a bit plumper. I would highly recommend this property. We had a fabulous week there.
- Julie, February 2024 -
Carol “A fabulous place to stay.”
All the facilities you would want and so clean and tidy. Easy drives to a great many attractions. The hosts were very good. A nice table and chairs at the front on a sun trap was super. Tumble drier was a bonus.

Ian “The Granary was a great place to stay.”
It was spacious, comfortable and up to date with all the things we needed for an enjoyable holiday. There was ample parking and the property provided a great base for exploring the local area including the wonderful Northumbrian coastline. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning sometime in the future. Many thanks. Ian & Alice

Jeffrey “We had a lovely stay in this very well appointed accommodation.”
The owner could not have done more for us and the bottle of wine was a generous gesture. The weather was terrific which gave us a super week.
- Jeffrey, November 2022 -
Susan “Fabulous house, ( it would be an insult to call it a cottage).”
Better than any of the others we have stayed in over the years. Well equiped for self catering. Near to Wallington, Cragside National trust properties, plus coastal sites. A good base for walking and site seeing. Just a short trip to Alnwick, and Morpeth. A nice touch that a bottle of wine was left for us, and the owner called to see if we had all we needed. A place definitely to recommend.
- Susan, October 2022 -
Wynne “Another return stay in this beautiful cottage.”
The Granary is delightful, extremely well furnished, spotlessly clean, with everything you need for a very comfortable holiday. The location is ideal for visiting all areas of Northumbria. Some very much appreciated ‘Welcome’ touches and an attentive owner on hand nearby if necessary. We’ve already booked again for next year. Thank you.
- Wynne, October 2022 -
Gillian “We had a wonderful time for our first ever experience of the Northumbrian region full of magnificent beaches and castles - the property is in a perfect location for exploring and we did not want to leave - we enjoyed Cragside, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick, Craster and the area in general had lots of beautiful villages and endless possibilities to explore - we will look back with fond memories of a comfortable clean and quaint holiday home, perfect in every way.”

Christopher “Pleasant owners.”
Good facilities in a quiet country environment. Would recommend.
- Christopher, July 2022 -
Jacqueline “The Granary is a beautiful property, well maintained and very clean.”
The owners were friendly and the wine, cake and flowers were much appreciated. The review would have been 5 stars, but for one thing, the mattress on the double bed was not comfortable, it was hard and not the quality you expect in this level of property. As it was only my daughter and myself I was able to make the mattress much softer by putting one of the single duvets on top, without this problem it would have been perfect!!
- Jacqueline, July 2022 -
Geoff “Excellent farm cottage in nice surroundings.”
Very clean and well stocked in all the right areas. Good location for Northumberland Coastal Villages & Castles. But beware of speed cameras in and around the village. Saying all that, a very good choice for a holiday break. Geoff & Elaine from Hawarden, North Wales
- Geoff, June 2022 -
Stephen “This is a first class property with all the amenities you could wish for.”
A real "home from home"
- Stephen, June 2022 -
Sue “The Granary is in a fabulous location for touring and walking throughout Northumberland.”
Lots of coastal walks and castles nearby and Longframlington also has some lovely pubs serving good food. The owners are very knowledgeable about the local area and happily offer advice. Furnished to a very high standard and impeccably kept, it’s home from home and also set in beautiful quiet grounds. The welcome milk, chocolates, cake and wine only enhances the whole experience. Definitely one of the nicest cottages we’ve stayed in.
- Sue, May 2022 -
Pauline “We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at The Granary.”
The property is lovely, in a delightful rural setting -- we were amazed to find a hare on the lawn early one morning! The property was spotlessly clean and had everything you could wish for and all decorated to a high standard.Thank you for making us feel so welcome and for the milk, wine, cake and flowers. It was easy to visit Bamburgh with its amazing beach and castle, Alnwick, Seahouses, Warkworth Castle, Morpeth. We hope to return and highly recommend the property.
- Pauline, May 2022 -
Diane “This was one of the best Sykes Cottages we have stayed in.”
The attention to detail was amazing and the owners had thought of absolutely everything to help us enjoy our holiday. The cottage is ideally placed for walks in the country and by the sea and lazy evenings were spent in front of the log fire. We really couldn't ask for much more.

Anne “I think the cottage is one of the loveliest I have stayed in.”
It is extremely well equipped and clean and the owners are next door and only too happy to help if needed (which we didn't really need as everything worked and was to hand) The location is good for travel to NT Cragside, the Northumberland coast and Holy Island is less than 1 hour away. Very easy to find things to do. Whilst the cottage is down a country lane it was so quiet, peaceful and enjoyable to sit out on the patio. I don't usually write reviews but I felt I must give credit where it's due. .
- Anne, July 2019 -
Stephen “Just a thoroughly lovely cottage in a peaceful location - the best Sykes property yet.”
Hope to return at some point

Pauline “The Granary is a lovely Cottage in Longframlington and the owners, Gill and Stephen, were extremely welcoming.”
A bottle of wine and a beautiful vase of flowers were waiting for us. The facilities were excellent, two first class ensuites plus a downstairs toilet, and the kitchen had everything you could need, with a separate utility room containing washing machine and tumbler dryer. Sitting room with log burner and a separate dining area overlooking the gardens. Lovely grounds outside with the hens and dogs making occasional visits! A lovely base to return to following each day’s exploration of castles, beaches, gift shops and restaurants. We highly recommend The Granary.

Martin “The photos of The Granary on the Sykes web site do not do the property justice.”
This is the nicest Sykes cottage I have stayed in. The owners were great, coming to greet us and check everything was OK within a couple of hours of our arrival. The property is a barn conversion and has been done to a very high standard, with en suites in both bedrooms as well as another toilet downstairs next to the utility room. The log burner in the living room was prepared with kindling and wood ready to be lit when we arrived, alongside a stock of wood for the week. The village of Longframlington is very nice, with two decent pubs. We had an excellent meal at the Granby Inn, and also had a couple of wonderful breakfasts at the Running Fox bakery / cafe. Over the course of the week we had days out in Edinburgh, Alnwick Castle, Hadrians Wall, Seahouses and Lindisfarne as well as a boat trip out around the Farne Islands. We had a fantastic time at The Granary and our kids have asked if we can go back again next year.
