Samantha “We hired both The Red Barn and The Granary.”
This property was beautiful and kept so clean. There was everything you could need to have a brilliant stay. The gardens were delightful, watching the birds from the kitchen window was amazing.

Extremely well equipped, beautiful location and very welcoming feel. We enjoyed a great week at the Red Barn.

Stephanie “Nicest, cleanest and best equipped accommodation we’ve ever stayed in.”
If the location wasn’t so far for us we’d be regulars.
- Stephanie, June 2024 -
Denis “We were most impressed with The Red Barn, Longframlington.”
We are two couples, and knowing that one of us likes a good night (undisturbed) sleep, we utilised the twin bedroom as well as the doubles. The standard of workmanship that has gone in to the barn conversion is very high. It is also very well equipped. The owner called on us shortly after we arrived, and explained about the local attractions and where to eat when we didn’t wish to eat in, which was three evenings. All very helpful and friendly, and one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in over the last 10-15 years. The visitors book indeed shows many guests returning time and again, and we would be more than happy to book a repeat in a lovely peaceful rural setting.

Jane “We loved our stay at the Red Barn.”
It is a well equipped, comfortable and spacious property in a quiet location but with easy access to the A1 and local attractions. The owners had decorated it beautifully for Christmas and it was a real ‘home from home’ for us. We will definitely stay there again.
- Jane, December 2023 -
Ben “A very comfortable place to stay with everything you need for a perfect holiday”

Nick “Our third visit to the Red Barn did not disappoint.”
The owners must work extremely hard to keep this property in excellent condition and it is spotlessly clean. The location is superb with a very pleasant seating area outside and lovely views. The Running Fox is only minutes away and their food is second to none. Also the Cook and Barker Inn which we visited twice offers a superb menu at a reasonable price. This property deserves its outstanding rating and I would recommend it to those wanting a peaceful break in this beautiful county.

Vikki “We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Red Barn.”
The house was beautiful and immaculate. It had everything you could possibly need. We didn’t want to leave! The owners were lovely, on hand if you should need them but not intrusive. We arrived to beautiful flowers, cake, wine and some little treats, which we thought was such a lovely, thoughtful welcome. The house is perfectly placed to explore many of the amazing places in Northumberland. There is so much to do. The village itself is so lovely and we would also highly recommend a visit to The Running Fox cafe. We hope to visit again.
- Vikki, August 2023 -

Christine “Fantastic holiday at The Red Barn.”
The owners were very welcoming and the property had everything you could need for a relaxing break, a real home from home. We used it as a base to tour Northumberland, which none of us had visited before and being quite central we were able to see a lot of this amazing county. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
- Christine, June 2023 -
Linda “Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”
Property is in a beautiful setting and was very clean. Just one negative and that is the bathroom of the second double bedroom. It is extremely small and instead of a shower over bath a walk-in shower would be better. Great week and very nice owner.
- Linda, May 2023 -
Patrick “Luxury accommodation in a lovely peaceful setting.”
- Patrick, May 2023 -
Pat “A very homely cottage, everything you need for a perfect stay.”
A nice welcome from the owner, with information on places to visit. Would highly recommend.
- Pat, April 2023 -
Pam “Beautifully renovated barn, comfortable with all you need in peaceful, quiet & picturesque surroundings.”
You can reach many attractions within 30min - 1hr including Seahouses/Bamburgh/Morpeth/Alnwick and many others. On arrival there was a bottle of wine, lemon drizzle cake, just lovely and needed after a 3hr drive. Lovely owner, extremely helpful with attractions and surrounding area, walks etc. Beautiful scenery and a much needed relaxing break.
- Pam, March 2023 -
Julie “Every thing you could possibly want.”
Thank you.
- Julie, November 2022 -
Patricia “Such a lovely cottage with everything you need very welcoming and delicious cake with the welcome pack.”
Not an easy walk to the village but a beautiful quiet spot.
- Patricia, September 2022 -
Angela “The best holiday we’ve had in a LONG time!”
Gillian and Steve are fantastic hosts. The Red Barn is perfect! From the welcoming gifts - flowers, cake, wine and chocolates - to departing, every detail had been thought of (including bath robes). We even had the pleasure of meeting the family pets. Having three en-suite bedrooms was a real bonus and made getting ready to go out really easy for a family of 6. Longframlington is in an ideal spot for visiting Cresswell Beach, Craster, Alnwick, Sycamore Gap and Hadrian’s wall. We had a fantastic day in Bamburgh, Seahouses and back to the beach. Thank you for a brilliant holiday!
- Angela, August 2022 -
Anne “A wonderful barn extremely well equipped and perfect hosts, there if needed but kept away when not.”
The directions were clear and very easy to follow. The barn was rated excellent with us and we have stayed in many lovely holiday homes, this was certainly one of the best.
- Anne, June 2022 -
Barbara “The Red Barn was one of the loveliest Cottages we have stayed in.”
It was so peaceful. The owners have thought of every thing to make your stay comfortable. We would go back again and again. The Northumberland countryside offers something for everyone.

Stephen “Beautiful property with everything you need for a lovely relaxing holiday, ...”
Beautiful property with everything you need for a lovely relaxing holiday, friendly owners and ideally located for visiting the Northumberland coast
- Stephen, May 2022 -
Ian “We had an excellent holiday at the Red Barn, it was a very relaxing & peaceful break.”
The cottage was warm, spacious, well equipped & comfortable. Lots of extras provided like tea, coffee, milk, cake, flowers & toiletries etc. Comfy beds, all bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, plus a downstairs cloakroom, separate large dining room & huge kitchen - meaning lots of space. Nice peaceful surroundings, yet not far to travel to all of the tourist attractions. Highly rated.
- Ian, March 2022 -
Joanne “What a fantastic find, we had a week at The Red Barn at the end of February and what an incredible week we had.”
It is a really lovely property, very clean and well equipped and ideal for a family. It had everything you could possibly need and was really like home from home. We were sad to leave.
- Joanne, February 2022 -
Susan “Beautifully presented with lots of lovely welcome touches.”
Everything needed was there and available. Lovely quiet location with good access to the coast and inland. Excellent property for 3 couples or 2 couples and 2 children. Highly recommended
- Susan, December 2021 -
Angela “A beautiful property in a lovely location, the house is well equipped and comfortable.”
The only disappointment was the lack of outside space, it would have been ideal if we could have had access to at least some of the garden, but we were restricted to the patio area which had close proximity to the neighbouring house. Also, not comfortable with the owner accessing the house at any time they felt like it. Not had this situation in any cottage we’ve hired before. To sum up Red Barn is a great space for families or groups due to the ensuites but perhaps more of a winter retreat than summer.
- Angela, September 2021 -
Jerry “The property was a real delight, there was plenty of room for our family, the living room was spacious with ample comfortable sofas for everyone.”
The property had everything we required, even wine, milk, and cake when we arrived - and flowers on the dinning room table! The spacious patio outside was great to enjoy the welcome sunshine. The Wi Fi worked perfectly. The local pub & restaurants were friendly and served very enjoyable food Gillian was on hand to give any help required, and tips on places to visit We had a great holiday. thank you!
- Jerry, July 2021 -
Jennifer “This property is one of the best we have ever stayed at.”
Every little thing that we could possibly have needed was provided plus more. The house has three double bedrooms with their own en suites which our mothers loved. The kitchen had every pan and utensil that anyone could ever need. The living room and log burner ...amazing. The wine and cake when we arrived were lovely as well as the little bowl of chocolates in the lounge and the bubble bath/shower gel in each of the en suites. The owner Gillian checked everything was up to our expectations on our arrival and recommended local attractions. Lots of information in the house re walks etc In summary ....just lovely
- Jennifer, September 2020 -
Elizabeth “Excellent accommodation.”
Only one negative, the advert on sykes includes a picture of a garden. Which makes you think that the barn has a garden. The garden in the picture is infact that of the owners next door and not for use of the rental property. Very misleading. The advert would be more accurate by not including this picture of the garden and stating that it doesn't have a garden.
- Elizabeth, August 2020 -
Richard “Fantastic accommodation!”
A real 'home from home'. Ideally located for trips to Alnwick, Craster, Cragside and more!
- Richard, October 2019 -
Nigel “Very pleased with the cottage.”
Each bedroom en suite. Very well equipped. Lovely garden with chickens strolling around and a pleasant rural location. Good base for exploring a great area.
- Nigel, August 2019 -
William “The Red Barn is a very attractive property in a beautiful rural location.”
The amount of equipment in the property is exceptional. It was so good to be able to fill the dishwasher and still have some crockery to use. The garden is large and interesting and our 15 year old grandson was able to do his football training on the large lawn without damaging anything ! There are many beaches and places of interest to visit from here without traveling very far.
- William, August 2019 -
Amanda “Lovely setting and a great experience to spend time at the Red Barn.”
Arguably, justice was not done to the cottage in the listing. We were all very happy with the accommodation.
- Amanda, July 2019 -
Anne “Fabulous cottage in beautiful location.”
- Anne, May 2019 -
Anne “This part of England has so much to offer.”
Sea ,historic buildings ,scenery ,wide open spaces and very warm and friendly people.
- Anne, April 2019 -
Sara “The Red Barn is an idyllic location to see beautiful Northumberland.”
The accommodation is faultless; every care had been taken to make our stay perfect...and perfect it was!
- Sara, April 2019 -
Keith “The red barn is a fantastic holiday cottage which has been built to a high specification.”
This extends to the furniture and all finishing materials (granite worktops, real stone, etc etc). The showers are all high pressure and very hot. The kitchen is well equipped and the cutlery/crockery is also all high quality. The huge fridge is a great addition and makes it easy to have enough in for a week. The only thing which was a notable let down were the mattresses. With the exception of the master bedroom where the mattress was comfortable enough, the other double and both single beds were rather awful. They are old spring mattresses and are noticeably uncomfortable. This is the only issue in an otherwise fantastic holiday cottage. We would stay again if the mattresses were changed but otherwise the disrupted sleep doesn't make up for the brilliant rest of the house.
- Keith, March 2019 -
Elaine “Red Barn is a brilliant place stay.”
Fantastic standard of accommodation in lovely location, with lots to see and do locally. We relaxed as soon as we arrived. Thank you for a really lovely holiday.

Angie “This was a family holiday for 6 adults and it was hard to find a cottage that had en-suite facilities for us all - this cottage was perfect.”
The third bedroom had twin beds rather than bunks which made it an even bigger attraction. It was spotlessly clean and the gardens were perfect.
- Angie, June 2018 -
Frank “Spaious and immaculate property both internally and externally.”
Very well equipped, with some lovely touches such as bath robes, and a welcome pack of flowers, cake and wine. A lovely get away, by far the best we have ever used.
- Frank, May 2018 -

- Neville, March 2018 -
Gary “We loved the red barn.”
We are a family of 4, (2 boys 5 and 9) The boys loved having their own en suite. The master bedroom feels really luxurious too. The views were lovely and the extra touches made it special eg wine and cake on arrival and toweks/bath robes. There was also loads to do and we had great day out at Cragside as recommended by the owners. We also visited the nearby zoo and had a bracing but fun cycle along the coast to Amble. Food at the Granby Inn in the village great quality for dinner and the Running fox was lovely too for breakfast or lunch. Thank you very much

Very well equipped and decorated. Loved having cream scones waiting for us and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Especially liked watching the birds on the many bird feeders. The property is very well situated down a small lane and is very peaceful and quiet. Very handy base for touring the area.

Laura “The location of the Red Barn was excellent for visiting the sights of the area.”
The Red Barn itself was a lovely place to stay. The owner has renovated the house to an excellent standard. She was very welcoming and provided a lovely cream tea, wine, chocolates and milk for us on arrival. The gardens were lovely and garden games were provided which kept our children happy. We would certainly be happy to return and to recommend this as a place to stay to our family and friends.

Mrs Plumb “Accommodation was superb.”
Everything you could possibly want was there with "knobs on". Welcoming bottle of wine and delicious cream scones were wonderful. Owner on hand to provide anything you require. Peaceful surroundings. Excellent local village store. Can't recommend it highly enough. We will be back.

Marilyn “The owners gave us a warm welcome.”
There were fresh picked tulips, a bottle of wine and delicious cream filled scones to add to the warm welcome. We were so impressed with our surroundings that we wished we could have stayed longer. We have stayed in many places in England and Europe and this was by far the nicest.
