Michael “We love the Amble area but have never stayed at Creel Cottage before.”
..... we'll certainly be staying there again though. A very relaxing holiday and the sea views from the cottage are wonderful.

Judy “This is a very special place.”
It is the fourth time we have been and feels like home from home. Will hopefully be back again next year.

Carol “Our 3rd stay at Creel cottage and didn’t disappoint yet again.”
Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and the views are to die for. Our happy place

Hayley “A beautiful property in an amazing position looking out over the sea.”
Perfect for a relaxing visit to a fantastic part of the Northumberland coastline.

Graham “Creel Cottage was very clean and warm when we arrived.”
It is in the most beautiful location with stunning views from all the rooms. It is nicely furnished and very comfortable. We had no problems with the property during our stay. The cottage is about a ten minute walk into the town of Amble which has a good selection of cafes and restaurants. There are also delightful beach walks from the cottage or from just a short drive away . We were so pleased with our choice of property as it gave us easy access to the most beautiful coastal scenery and was so comfortable when we had evenings in.

Joanne “Absolutely love Creel Cottage.”
We have stayed at least 6 times now. Great location and property lay out. Parking a bonus. This stay we felt the cottage needs some TLC. Negatives were: problems with tv as no terrestrial channels and general problems with access to programmes; broken tap in the kitchen: bedding past its best. Would stay again but would hope some of these problems get the attention they need
- Joanne, November 2024Thanks for feedback as without it we wouldn’t be able to action . Bedding replaced. The tap has been fixed .The tv in the property is a smart tv and allows access to channels via broadband apps and digital. Sorry that your stay this time was sub optimal . Thanks Property Owner

Sticky hard to open and close doors especially the nedroom with the balcony Radiators in main bedroom and downstairs shower room didn’t work Downstairs shower room very tight squeeze only really room for toilet and sink Everything else perfect

Christine “The cottage was warm, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated with fabulous views.”
Plenty of storage space in the kitchen and bedrooms. A minor inconvenience for a short stay was the dreadful layout of the large kitchen with the cramped area around the sink, the fridge at the opposite corner to the kettle and some of the doors causing obstructions when opened. I thought 15 preparation knives was a bit over the top. The bedroom door mentioned by others had still not been fixed.

Julie “What a wonderful cottage !”
Great position with everything you could ever possibly need !we fell in love with Creel Cottage

Angela “It is the first time we have stayed at Creel Cottage and in Amble.”
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was well equipped, with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The position of the cottage with the back of the cottage overlooking the sea was lovely. Also a short stroll away was lovely open grass spaces which our dog loved being taken walks on every day. We would not hesitate to stay at Creel Cottage again.

Sara “Comfortable cottage with beautiful views.”
Quiet location. Very well equipped kitchen. Amble is extremely dog friendly, lots of places to eat out with your furry friend. There are a few issues which have been mentioned before - doors still sticking, TV stuck on TV Plus. If you have mobility problems I would not recommend Creel Cottage as the stairs are steep and the treads are shallow.

Ken “The cottage exceeded our expectations, the views from the bedrooms and conservatory were amazing.”
The beds were very comfortable and overall the cottage was well maintained. Just one thing let it down, when we arrived there was only one toilet roll for four of us! So the first thing we had to do was to buy some. Apart from that the cottage was very good value in an excellent location.
- Ken, June 2024Sorry to hear this,we will do better think it was an oversight . Thank you. Property Owner

Malcolm “This was our third visit to Creel cottage and we've booked for next year so it's safe to say that we love it.”
The location and views are fantastic and the cottage is comfortable and very well equipped, however as others have noted there are issues with the bedroom doors which need sorting sooner rather than later. The small bedroom door is scraping and damaging the floor and the large bedroom door is extremely difficult to open from the inside so in both cases if you have to get up in the night you can't do it quietly.
- Malcolm, June 2024Thankyou for your feedback. This has now been sorted out by the maintenance team. Property Owner

Jennie “On arrival the location and views are stunning.”
The cottage itself was cold, with the underfloor heating in the conservatory not working, with the general heating coming on at random times, being cold first thing in the morning when needed. This property is advertised as 2 bathrooms, bathroom 2 which is by the front door is large enough just to get you in with a shower, which needs the door replacing, also was unusable due to being freezing in there..... Bedrooms are comfortable both with great views , bedroom 1 the radiator doesn't work, bedroom 2, the door needs shaving at bottom as hard to shut rubbing across the hard floor, which is not great at night, could also do with a bedside cabinet on the veranda side. Kitchen is fully equipped and superb.... We also had a problem with the TV not working, which we had seen in previous reviews, but hadn't been resolved. After contacting Sykes TV and underfloor heating were resolved. Having said all that with these problems, biggest being advertised as 2 bathrooms when you have 2 couples only realistically being able to use the one upstairs, its a great property, but needs a bit of TLC.

Emma “Wonderful cottage in a brilliant location.”
The living space and garden were perfect. And good sized bedrooms with storage too. There were 4 adults and a dog and we found it almost perfect. Two bits of feedback the TV doesnt work properly. No freeview or terrestrial channels at all. Luckily we could stream but it was a bit of a pain. Secondly the direct access from the garden is no longer available. Other than that it was brilliant clean and today lots of space, pretty much everything you need for self catering and plenty of choices to eat out locally.
- Emma, May 2024Sorry to hear the tv wasnt working now fixed. Access to the beach from the garden is available however the steps down are very steep so caution is needed. Property Owner

Julie “We had a very comfortable stay at Creel Cottage.”
It was extremely well appointed, the owners have thought of almost everything. The cottage is perfectly situated in a quiet spot on the outskirts of Amble but within easy walking distance of the town. Parking was also very easy. We travelled to Alnwick by bus and can definitely recommend Barter Books and the Aln Valley Railway. Cragside Estate is relatively nearby and well worth a visit. The walk alongside Amble marina to Warkworth village and castle was a highlight, as was Hauxley Discovery centre. We even took to the air with Northumberland Microlights. One fly in the ointment was the complete lack of information about how to watch terrestrial television. The owners will know which handset to use and how to remove someone else’s choice of channels which appear fixed but we had no idea how to do it. This was somewhat frustrating.

Andrew “The property was great with superb views, and well equipped in an excellent location.”
However the electric shower pull switch in the bathroom would not operate. The power to the shower is permanently on. Also we couldn't navigate the TV channels. We used BBC iplayer and ITVx all week. The TV guide seems to be stuck on US channels 4108 and we couldn't scroll up and down the guide for live UK TV. Perhaps it was operator error, we are both in our seventies!! We would like to book again next year
- Andrew, April 2024 -
Sandra “Wonderful cottage, home from home comfort☺️ However the bathroom toilet seat needs replacing!”
There are no waste bins upstairs! No towels provided, which is stated but in my opinion this is a must. It’s not great going home with damp/wet towels! Otherwise fabulous.
- Sandra, April 2024 -
Amanda “Wonderful location right by the sea and short walk to harbour restaurants and beautiful sunsets.”
Many lovely and interesting places to visit in well under an hour away. Even Hadrian's wall is only an hour. With a cosy and comfortable cottage to return to. Bliss.
- Amanda, April 2024 -
Alison “Creel Cottage is really lovely and we were disappointed to have to leave at the end of the week!”
The location is excellent and we loved just watching the wild sea from the warmth and comfort of the beautiful sun room. Our dog loved the heated floor in there too! The cottage was much more spacious than we expected, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The only negatives were the rather cold bedroom and shower room but that didn’t spoil a wonderful week away.
- Alison, February 2024 -
Allisdair “We could not fault this cottage.”
Just beautiful and high standard. We enjoyed our break very much lots to see.

Alison “Fabulous New Year break at Creel cottage.”
Stayed with my husband and elderly parents. The cottage was perfect for our needs, so warm and cosy, and with every kitchen pot/pan/utensil you could need. Lots of space to relax and extremely comfortable. The option to split the larger bed into twin beds was great for my parents, just arrange ahead of arrival. The location looking out to the sea is just stunning, we could sit in the snug forever just watching the waves crashing, and enjoyed long leisurely breakfasts in there every morning. The additional downstairs bathroom with shower was a benefit especially for my parents, although it is very small. Small enclosed garden which was great with the dog, knowing it was safe to let her out. Not too far to walk to pubs/restaurants and shops, and a big Morrisons on the edge of town as well. The coast path goes past the cottages and we enjoyed walks both down towards Hauxley Nature Reserve and up to Warkworth castle and beach. We also enjoyed a day cycling along the National Cycle Route up to Alnwick, Alnmouth and beyond to Boulder. Can highly recommend the local bars and restaurants, everyone was so friendly. And we had the best weather in the country it seems. While we watched the news showing the country being battered by wind rain and floods we had dry and partly sunny days, light breezes and fairly mild weather, with the only rain being overnight……..all in all a perfect trip. We’d love to return again to this beautiful part of the country.

Marianne “Creel Cottage was perfect for our holiday needs!”
A great location, thoughtful touches regarding our dog, well equiped kitchen, nice and warm, well presented and beautifully decorated for Christmas - a lovely touch, thank you! Also, a very handy parking space too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to all.
- Marianne, December 2023 -
Derek “Our second visit to Creel Cottage.”
Quite possibly the best all round holiday retreat we have ever experienced - exceptionally comfortable beds and sofas (a real must), very well equipped, close to local facilities yet feels “off the beaten track”. The Christmas tree was a lovely touch - thank you
- Derek, December 2023 -
Richard “Creel cottage is a lovely cosy cottage.”
Very well equipped. It is in a beautiful position, with lovely views of the coast and coquet island. I m sure we will definitely be back.
- Richard, November 2023 -
Emma “An absolutely beautiful place to stay, close proximity to the village but just far enough away to feel isolated!”
Views of the sea are amazing, especially for us during storm ‘babet’! This is one of the nicest, comfortable cottages we’ve had in the UK, and we can’t wait to come back.
- Emma, October 2023 -
John “Lovely, well equipped cottage.”
Sea views are amazing. Snug area Brilliant. Would recommend. Will return.
- John, October 2023 -
Helen “A lovely place in a super position with great views all round.”
The second time we’ve stayed here and just love it. Shame the price will be so much higher next year!
- Helen, September 2023 -
Teresa “A great location with an amazing view!”
The most well-equipped cottage we’ve stayed in.
- Teresa, August 2023 -
Evelyn “This is the third visit for us and we absolutely love it at Creel Cottage.”
The only disappointment for us is that the price for next year for the same week has gone up to over £200 more. It could now do with a fresh lick of paint as paintwork upstairs (door frames and skirting boards)need painting. Perhaps everywhere painted white would brighten it up. This does not detract from the fact that it is a fabulous place to stay. We feel so comfortable and at home there.
- Evelyn, July 2023Thanks for the feedback re the decor - we will get on to it . Glad you love Creel Cottage . The tariff is in accordance with Sykes recommended valuation but we will check to ensure that Creel Cottage is in line with the rating of this type of property. Property Owner

Margaret “This cottage is in a lovely location.”
It could be perfect but it doesn’t have a functioning heating system and from reading guest comments in the visitors book it hasn’t had for many many months. Also from reading the blurb we wrongly assumed the garden could access the beach. In fact half of the outdoor space you see belongs to another cottage so this is somewhat misleading. It is however very well equipped and convenient for a variety of places.
- Margaret, July 2023Sorry you couldn't activate the heating system. We installed full central heating a couple of years ago, With no mains gas ,the gas supply is provided by LPG and it may be that the gas gas run out.? This is checked regularly by NCCC - we do also have electric heaters in the property as a back up. You can access the beach the garden, however we politely ask guests to do so via the front - a few yards further simply because the garden is the residence of our neighbours who live there permanently. The access is a right of way though if you have to access it. The photos of the back garden are what they are so a little confused about the misleading comment . Sorry it did not meet your expectations - Cliff and Mandy Property Owner

Malcolm “We very much enjoyed our stay at Creel cottage and have already booked for next year.”
It's a very comfortable and well equipped cottage, the little garden is lovely and the sunsets are amazing.
- Malcolm, June 2023 -
Neil “Unfortunately although the property was as advertised the noise and inconvenience from the building work next door and opposite spoilt it.”
We couldn’t even park for most of the week. We had been warned about the work but not that they would start before 8 o’clock every morning. It was not the relaxing holiday we were looking forward to. We would love to come back when it’s quiet
- Neil, May 2023 -
Derek “A wonderfully comfortable cottage in a superb location.”
HOWEVER, had we been made aware that the cottage is in the middle of a building site with early morning deliveries of materials (07:30), builders’ radios, diggers and other equipment running all day we would not have booked. According to a permanent resident two doors away this has been going on for months and months.
- Derek, March 2023 -
Paul “The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything that would be needed.”
The furniture and furnishings were fantastic and a definite attention to detail on every aspect. The views of the sunrise and the sea were amazing and a great location for venturing out and about. We will definitely be returning and staying for a longer vacation.
- Paul, March 2023 -
Tracey “Our stay at Creel Cottage was fabulous.”

About the location
AMBLE
Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.
The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
Note: The bed in bedroom 2 is a Super-king zip-link as standard, if you require this to be twin beds, please contact us. No cot or highchair provided.
Note: Additional day bed can be set up on request. MAX 4 guests.
