David “We felt that the property represented a really good combination of traditional cottage charm (stripped pine doors and floorboards, plus open fires) and all the quality appliances that modern living has come to expect.”
The comprehensive range of books, CDs, DVDs, games and toys would appeal to visitors of all ages and interests. A warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout: clean and tastefully decorated. Ample off-road,, parking space for 2 cars, and --very important to us seniors!-- within easy walking distance to some very fine pubs.
- David, April 2025Thank you so much for taking the time to give such kind and helpful feedback. So happy that you loved Anchor Cottage and that you made some lovely anniversary memories!Hope we see you again Property Owner

Gail “What a joy to be back in Seahouses!”
I was born in Beadnell, spent the first five years there before family moved to Gateshead. So many happy memories, parents brought my sisters and I here every year for Summer holidays (which seemed to go on forever!!) Cottage is lovely, you have thought of everything! Hope to be back next year. A brilliant combination of traditional cottage features (stripped pine doors, floorboards, open fires) and all the quality appliances for modern living. Plus, a fantastic range of books, CD's, DVD's and toys to suit visitors of all ages and interests. Thank you so much.

Jenny “Premium price, less than premium experience.”
It was a good location, and on the surface, looked good. There were maintenance issues including - flashing kitchen lights; flashing /not working rt hand light over bathroom sink; hot tap on bath had to be held to turn on and off - not good when it was hot; button on bathroom sink hot tap detached; grey settee in front lounge - spring gone? - down at one side; general rubbish bin outside - totally full on arrival. Cleanliness - downstairs loo very offputting, even after several flushes with what looked like faecal stains; plenty of cobwebs and dust etc along skirting by bed/back of bedside cabinets, suggesting inadequate cleaning; on arrival - black bits in bath - may be blown in if window had been opened, but as you would have to stand in bath to operate the window, obviously the muck was just left - also on shelf between cistern and toilet bowl. Bad staining on mattress protector on queen bed. Minor points - the kettle is very heavy for anyone who is not super fit in upper body. Kitchen blind over the sink hopeless for anyone under 5'5 to reach and pull up/down. Shower lethal - bath mat would be helpful to be obvious. Those issues are about the cottage. In what was not even a full week with a clear message early booking in was out of the question, it felt like being short changed to receive a message when it was too late to react to say the cottage was available earlier. Never had any of theses issues with Sykes before. Very disappointed.
- Jenny, December 2024I’m very sorry to hear that you had a few maintenance issues during your stay. We were unaware of these until after you had left. We do encourage guests to let the main office know as soon as a maintenance issue arises so that the staff can pop out to fix it asap and enable you to continue enjoying your stay. We try to provide a few spare lightbulbs (under the kitchen sink) to be helpful but again, the main office can assist if guests need help with this. The bath tap is just a cottage quirk I’m afraid! It turns the opposite way to normal. However, I shall put a note nearby to alert future guests and prevent it from loosening further. Thank you. The downstairs toilet and main bathroom were newly installed in the last year or so and the kitchen partially refurbished. All are still spotless. (The shower mat is provided in the vanity cupboard under the basin). I see that early check in wasn’t available in advance on this occasion although Sykes will accommodate a request whenever possible and it was offered on the day itself when available in case helpful to you. This is not something we have control over and is down to the order in which properties are cleaned and prepared and whether guests are vacating the cottage on the same day, to ensure the cottage is fully ready. Guest book “Lovely, Beautiful Cottage!”
For others staying we recommend the following: The fish n chips on the high street - is the best! (the one opposite Methodist church). The Indian take away next to this is very good too. Would highly recommend cocktail hour at The Black Swan Inn (3pm - 6pm). The Bamburgh Castle Inn is great with brilliant roast on Sundays. The coffee shop in Bamburgh is lovely and also reasonable! "Wyndenwell cafe". Barter Books, both Gardens and Castle at Alnwick are all definitely worth your visit. We saw baby seals on boat trip around island and Holy Island is beautiful (with more great coffee and food places ) You can see what we have done on our holiday!!

Joann “Wonderful, well equipped, beautifully furnished, very homely property.”
The easy parking, games, books, buckets and spades, clothes dryer were all very appreciated extras. Fabulous welcome hamper was a very pleasant and delicious surprise, and the phone call to say we could access the property slightly earlier on arrival day was also a bonus. Loved the cottage, Seahouses itself and the property management. Definitely hoping to be back here again!

Guest book “This was our 3rd visit to Anchor Cottage - loved the refurbed bathroom and the new cooker.”
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - perfect location for exploring the area. Weather was quite chilly but no rain (as originally forecast) so we were out and about every day. Fabulous beach walks. We will be back again.

Yvonne “Our second visit to the cottage and I had read that the bathroom had been refurbished but we were all disappointed that the shower had not been replaced for a more powerful one which would have been nice in the new bathroom.”
The new stairs carpet was nice and the new appliances in the kitchen. Overall another lovely stay and we will be back!
- Yvonne, May 2024Thank you- so pleased you had another lovely stay and that you liked our refurbishments to kitchen & bathroom and the new carpets. We were advised that the electric Mira power shower is still one of the best available in the absence of the option to swap to a different shower type. Looking forward to welcoming you back very soon ⚓️ Property Owner

Michael “The cottage was in s great location & very nice.”
The reason for only 1 star is the heating or hot water didn't come on during our stay, this meant we left a day early as no hot water or heating. In the house instructions book it advised heating comes on twice per day long enough to give you hot water through the day and night but this didn't happen. The property maintenence came out and put the heating on but this was only for a short time & not long enough to heat the water. The boiler needs upgrading for a property charging £200 per night. Basically £300 per night as we had to come home early or face another night sitting with blankets wrapped round us & not hot water to wash dishes. Heating & hot water are the minimum you expect
- Michael, May 2024Thank you for your feedback. We’re pleased that you loved Anchor Cottage and are just so sorry that unfortunately the boiler failed during your visit. We’re pleased to report that a brand new boiler was fitted in mid June :0) We do hope we can welcome you back to Anchor Cottage again. Property Owner

Guest book “2nd time here, feels like home.”
Arrived to a warm cosy house and a lovely welcome pack, thank you. Experienced some stunning walks on the beaches, plus an early morning run on the beach with woody. Ate at The Black Swan three times, lovely food, gorgeous Sunday lunch - the best we've ever had! The chef here really knows how to cook. See the staff here are really lovely. We'll be returning to the area and hopefully the cottage. Hoping to visit the Farne Islands and join in the local wild swimming groups next time. Sadly returning home tomorrow . Thank you.

Jane “We loved the cottage, it was comfortable and spacious.”
Beds were comfy, plenty of towels. It was in a perfect location and good to have its own parking. The welcome basket was lovely. The outside space was good with variety of seating to catch the sun. We really could have done with spare toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets; there weren't enough of either for a family of four for a week. We would also have liked some basic cleaning products. Overall a brilliant holiday and we would return.

Delightful property, quiet, cosy yet spacious and amazingly comfortable beds. Was lovely that the house was warm on arrival. We enjoyed the log fire and playing some of the many games.
