The bedrooms were all a good size with lovely comfy beds and all with the added bonus of en-suite bathrooms. The garden was safe for the dogs too. The only issues we had were that the fridge/freezer was leaking which was an accident waiting to happen on a tiled floor, especially for my one year old granddaughter who was crawling around. A previous couple of reviews had also mentioned this so it was rather disappointing that it had not been addressed. We were also unable to use the dishwasher ...

A previous couple of reviews had also mentioned this so it was rather disappointing that it had not been addressed. We were also unable to use the dishwasher during our stay as the fitted cupboard door was hanging off and we did not want to make it worse. The garden furniture was a lovely touch but the cushions must have been on all winter under the cover and smelled very musty and damp which also transferred to your clothes after sitting on them. All of this said the location was beautiful right on the coast road near a lovely beach and really close to Bamburgh and we would certainly love to re-visit the cottage.

The Old Stables is a fabulous, detached three bedroomed stone-built property set within the quiet hamlet of Waren Mill being close to the stunning Budle Bay on the northern edge of Bamburgh.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
