The property

Boasting far-reaching views of the ruins of Edlingham Castle and the surrounding Northumberland countryside, is this wonderful cottage, Coal Drops.

Lovingly converted from an old coal drop depot for the railway line, this superbly appointed dwelling has been designed to offer a base for a family looking to explore an area steeped with rolling hills, rugged moorland and a heritage of its own.

Upon entering this all ground-floor accommodation, be welcomed into the brightly decorated open-plan living room, where views of the surrounding area can be enjoyed from.

Rustle up an evening meal within the contemporary kitchen before joining your loved ones within the dining space to tuck into breakfast or dinner and to plan the days ahead.

After a busy day exploring the surrounding area, look forward to sinking into the sofa and tune into the TV with a selection of DVD's available or relax within the arm chair to enjoy the views from the glass sliding doors.

The property is completed by two well-presented bedrooms, comprising a double and a twin beds, each boasting a refreshing colour scheme, carefully selected furnishings and an en-suite bathroom/shower room to ensure an inviting stay at any time of year.

During those summer months, look forward to spending time within the garden area, where you can soak up the surroundings further whilst dining alfresco or your canine companions can stretch their legs on the spacious lawn area.

If you can tear yourself away from this wonderful base, venture to the nearby town of Alnwick, where you will be delighted to find a selection of pubs and shops to explore, as well as the Castle Gardens which houses Europe's largest cascading water feature and a large treehouse.

From here, venture a little further to the coastal village of Alnmouth where you will find a glorious sandy beach and walks along the breath-taking Northumberland Coast AONB.

Coal Drops is a splendid base for a family looking to explore this majestic location.

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Please note: This property accepts a minimum of 3 nights.
